چکیده

• In previous papers from this laboratory,' it has been shown that isolated guinea pig and cat hearts perfused with Tyrode solution without substrates undergo a decrease in rate, a decrease in amplitude of the R wave, a lengthening of the P-R interval, ventricular premature contractions, A-V dissociation, and, finally, ventricular fibrillation. The ventricular fibrillation, induced by the lack of substrates both in isolated guinea pig and cat hearts, does not revert spontaneously to normal or idioventricular rhythm. In guinea pig hearts, either glucose or butyrate reversed ventricular fibrillation induced by this procedure to normal or idioventricular rhythm. Tn contradistinction, the ventricular fibrillation of the isolated cat heart is not reversed by perfnsion with Tyrode solution containing glucose, fructose, galactose, butyrate, or pyruvate, nor is the contractile force increased by glucose and butyrate in the isolated hypodynamic cat heart.' 4

Ellagic acid improved arrhythmias induced by CaCL2 in the rat stress model

Objective: In ventricular arrhythmias, due to their free radical scavenging action, antioxidant agents are usually used in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. Since stress is considered as risk factor for increased mortality by causing malignant arrhythmias, the study was designed to evaluate the cardioprotective effects of ellagic acid (EA) on CaCl2-induced arrhythmias in rat stress model...

Modulation of extracellular atrioventricular node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm by morphine in experimental atrial fibrillation in isolated rabbit heart

Introduction: Endorphins are produced by cardiomyocytes, and exert different effects on the heart. The aim of the present study is to assess morphine effects on extracellular atrioventricular (AV) node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm of isolated rabbit heart during experimental atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods: Effects of different concentrations of morphine (10, 20, 50 and 1...

Effect of gallic acid on electrophysiological properties and ventricular arrhythmia following chemical-induced arrhythmia in rat

Objective(s): Ventricular arrhythmias including ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) are the most important causes of mortality rate. Gallic acid (GA) has beneficial effects on cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of GA on electrophysiological parameters such as QRS complex, heart rate (HR), PR interval pa...

Acute direct effects of cyclosporine on extracellular field potential of isolated rabbit AV node during experimental atrial fibrillation

Introduction: Previous studies have indicated a relationship between MPTP pore and AV nodal rate-dependent properties. The aim of present study was to determine acute direct effects of cyclosporine on extracellular field potential of isolated rabbit AV node during experimental atrial fibrillation. Methods: In one group of male New Zealand rabbits (1.5-2.5 kg) cumulative concentrations of cyc...
